Breastfeeding Education Series
Day: October 19,26,November 2,9
Fee: $100.00 members/ $119.00 non-members
We are presenting a series of four breastfeeding classes. Highly encourage pregnant people
and their significant others to attend. This series is also open to breastfeeding parents who
would like to understand the breastfeeding experience better, though it does not take the place
of a one on one consultation for specific breastfeeding challenges. It should help the
breastfeeding parent to better understand the challenges being faced and some ideas of how to
deal with them.
There are four topics on the series, four weeks in a row, but there is the ability the mix and match series. Each session is one hour and ah half hour for questions.
The topics are:
Week 1: Valuable tips for getting breastfeeding off to a good start, understanding the newborn human infant. Position and latching ideas and how they change over the months.
Week 2: Will I have enough milk? Breast anatomy and variations, how the breast makes milk and what is in breastmilk.
Week 3: Recognizing normal variations from a problem that needs help, knowing when to seek help. Handling the normal challenges of breastfeeding and the postpartum body.
Week 4: Adjusting to the new role of "Parent"! Being realistic about the support needed and how to
get that support. Changes in that role might include going back to work, pumping. Also weaning.
